  • Phase I of the Purple Martin Greenway is now OPEN! This new 10 ft wide greenway trail is part of the Towns planned trail system. The Purple Martin when fully constructed will stretch from Kiwanis Park to Crestview Park & beyond to the Isothermal Rail Trail. Currently this trail afford a leisurely 2 mile walk when you begin at the Picnic Shelter at Crestview Park!

  • The Town of Rutherfordton is pleased to announce that the Rutherfordton Fire Department has been awarded a $80,000 grant from the Timken Foundation of Canton. The grant will be used to fund new rescue tools for the fire department including new jaws of life, vehicle rescue tools and technical rope rescue equipment....Read More

  • North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Wayne Goodwin announced today that the Rutherfordton Fire District completed its routine inspection and received a 4 rating, effective Monday, February 1, 2016. Among other things, the routine inspections look for proper staffing levels, sufficient equipment, proper maintenance of equipment, communications capabilities and availability of a water source.
