Rutherfordton Public Safety joins the Pink Patch Project for Pinktober

The Rutherfordton Police Department & the Rutherfordton Fire & Rescue Depts have joined the Pink Patch Project in an effort to help raise funds & awareness for Breast Cancer.

The Pink Patch Project (#PinkPatchProject) is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.

It is estimated that approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This disease can have a profound impact on the patient and her loved ones. It is a disease however that can be effectively treated with surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy and chemotherapy.

In addition to our public education efforts, we have the added goal of raising funds from the sale of #PinkPatchProject items to go directly to fund the cancer research, treatment, and education needed to help find a cure.

During the Month of October Rutherfordton Police Department & the Rutherfordton Fire & Rescue Dept will wear these patches on their uniforms. Also all other staff including Norris Public Library, Public Works & Town Hall staff will have special pink shirts to join this effort as #1Town1Team #PinkTober #FindACure
