The managers recommended budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018 and will be formally presented to the Rutherfordton Town Council on May 3, 2017 in accordance with North Carolina General Statues. However in keeping with our desire to have an informed public the managers recommended budget is available now for public review. This budget keeps the tax rate the same as previous years, and tackles some new projects and capital spending. Highlights of this year’s budget include funds to help assist with the US 221 Bypass, a neighborhood stabilization program, continued support of the Purple Martin greenway, funding for a Hometown History book & continues the process for a new public works facility and the subsequent redevelopment of the current property.
Rutherfordton Sewer customers will see no rate increase for the coming year. The sewer fund will continue to fund capital improvements to the waste water treatment plant as well as investments into the repairs to the aging collections system.
