Dr. Doug Sheets

Dr. Sheets and his wife Kay moved to Rutherfordton in 1978. He joined Rutherford OB/GYN and practiced till 2015. He was on the staff at Rutherford Hospital where he delivered over 4000 babies and served as Chief of Staff 1993 – 94. They have three children and three grandchildren. They belong to the Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church where he and his wife are elders. He has been active in the Rutherford County Medical Society serving as president for 13 years. He is a member of North Carolina Medical Society where he served as President from 2009-10 and taught on parliamentary procedure. He is currently serving his third term on the North Carolina Public Health Commission. Locally, he served on the Rutherfordton STEP Committee and participated in the first Rutherfordton Citizens Academy. He is currently serving his first term on the town council.
