Jimmy Dancy

As a resident of Rutherford County since 1976, Dancy has lived in Rutherfordton since 1978. After completing his Army service, he began his career with CitiFinancial where he retired after 37 years.  Mayor Dancy is married to Ginger and has a daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Dancy is a member and Lay Leader of the Rutherfordton United Methodist Church, member and former Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis Club of Rutherfordton, an Executive Board member of Isothermal Planning and Development Commission, and is a Lifetime Honorary Member of Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity.  Mayor Dancy serves on the Boards of Rutherford Town Rising, Rutherfordton Recreational Trust Fund, Chairman of the Board of Cottages at Crestview, Inc., Chairman of the Board of the Logan Trust Fund, as Treasurer of the RHI Legacy Auxiliary, and as a member and former Chairman of the RHI Legacy Foundation.  Dancy has also been recognized and awarded the Governor’s Volunteer of the Year in 1990.  He was elected to Rutherfordton Town Council in 2001 and was elected Mayor in 2009 where he continues to serve the Town of Rutherfordton.
