Wendy Craig Burch

Division Chief Wendy Craig Burch came to the Town of Rutherfordton in August, 2014.  Division Chief Burch is responsible for fire prevention and safety, fire inspections for Town businesses and is also the Code Enforcement/zoning officer for the Town.

Before coming to the Town of Rutherfordton Division Chief Burch worked at the Town of Lake Lure for 15 years, serving in various positions at the Lake Lure Fire Department.

Division Chief Burch earned her Associate’s degree in Fire Science from Cleveland Community College and then went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Administration, obtained from Columbia Southern University May of 2020.

Division Chief Burch is a native to Rutherford County, a 1995 graduate of RS Central High School.  The family roots of the fire service run deep with her dad and brother also being involved in the fire service. Division Chief Burch’s passion for the fire service began as a volunteer at Green Hill Fire Department where she spent nine years before starting a career in the fire service.
