About the Community Development Department
The Community Development Department is responsible for preparing and administering plans and programs related to residential & commercial development, quality of life, strong neighborhoods, sustainability of the environment, efficient public facilities and services, diverse community festivals and programs, and effective utilization of the area's land resources. This is achieved in partnership with Rutherford Town Rising & the NC Main Street Program.
The Town of Ruthefordton is working with the Gateway Wellness Foundation to ensure the local community knows about Creekwood Meadows and the opportunity for home ownership. The dream of homeownership is not out of reach and Creekwood Meadows could soon be home! Gateway homes are developed for working families, teachers, first responders, and more. If you earn $14 an hour or more it is possible to become a homeowner with no money down (100% loan) from USDA and a house in Creekwood Meadows. The Gateway Housing Program specializes in helping first-time home buyers who earn between $27,000 to $52,300 a year ($69,050 for houses of 4+) to become homeowners.
